Some Cultus Lake history

This video is especially interesting to the old folks who spent time in their youth enjoying the many attractions of Cultus Lake.....Myself and many others....swimming, skating,camping,dancing.......most people growing up in the chilliwack area will have fond memories of cultus lake......I recently received this clip in email from a friend.........

There is no date for this picture......but for those of you who are familiar don't you think it is interesting how it compares with the scene today......the bridge has been replaced a few times and  there are now rocks and fill where all the cribbing was placed......I think this picture will enlarge quite a bit and notice how clear the photo is .....if I had to guess I would say 1910....

How many steelhead have swam under that bridge since then......

Jim and I landed this in the kiddies pool at Cultus lake ....that's only 8 miles from Chilliwack.....we thought that was a pretty good morning....usually the fish are only half this big....it took about 4 hours to land it .Sometimes I think we should go up to 12 lb test.....these magnificent sturgeon are protected  and we treated it as gently as possible before releasing it......we have found the best bait for these guys is a little bs...just enough to cover a large hook, so be sure to trim it a bit
